Our Bernese Mountain Dogs have a high drive to be with people. They often use their paws to reach out and gently touch you, or wiggle their way through your legs so they can receive a butt scratch. Our adoption process is designed to learn about your lifestyle and living situation. We'll explore your activity level, living space, and experience with dogs. This helps us recommend a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy that will instinctively thrive in your home.

We recognize the coefficient of inbreeding is high in Bernese Mountain Dogs in the United States, which leads to health issues for the dog later in life. For this reason, we've imported Bernese Mountain Dogs from all over the world to build our program, including Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Russia. (Not to mention, we LOVE the big blocky heads and physical structure of the European Bernese Mountain Dog lines!)
All of our breeding Bernese Mountain Dogs undergo comprehensive health testing and genetic screening before being bred. We meticulously select breeding pairs based on a combination of factors.
Health test results, genetic screening results, temperament evaluations and sizes are analyzed and considered before selecting a breeding pair to ensure we're starting with healthy and confident parents. We do everything we can to minimize the risk of passing on health issues or unfavorable personality traits to puppies.
Our approach allows us to produce healthy Bernese Mountain Dog puppies to match you with the characteristics you desire, whether a specific size, physical structure or personality. We are doing everything we can to ensure predictable personality traits and a lower risk of certain genetic diseases.

Bernese Mountain Dogs are undeniably gorgeous, turning heads wherever they go. Bred as versatile farm dogs, their ancestors herded cattle, guarded property and pulled carts. While their modern counterparts may seem content with lounging and receiving affection (which they adore!), their hardworking spirit still shines through.
Bernese Mountain Dogs possess a deep love for people and thrive on companionship. In fact, it's this very affection that initially drew us to breeding this exceptional breed.
Prioritizing the Well-being of Our Breeding Bernese Mountain Dogs
We believe our breeding Bernese Mountain Dogs deserve the best possible life. Many share our home as cherished family pets.
Building and sustaining a breeding program with exceptionally high-standards takes more dogs than we have room for in our home. However, we don't believe a dog should spend their life unloved in a kennel. Dogs are meant to be companions and deserve a loving family to love back.
To ensure Bernese Boutique's breeding Bernese Mountain Dogs receive constant love and care we partner with wonderful families through our Guardian Home Program.
Guardian families provide loving homes for our breeding dogs in between breeding cycles. Guardians get to welcome a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy as their own beloved companion, to love and raise as their own.
During breeding and whelping periods the Guardian dog will stay with us to receive specialized care. Once these periods are over the dog happily returns to its Guardian family. (After the Guardian family has a chance to meet and play with their dog's puppies before the puppies go to their forever home.)
Our Guardian Home Program offers a win-win-win situation. The Bernese Mountain Dogs get to live in loving homes, avoiding a life in kennels or crates. We maintain genetic diversity within our Bernese Mountain Dogs by having a large breeding pack to choose from. And our Guardian families gain a cherished Bernese Mountain Dog companion.
